Can anyone recall a British 1950s film in which a son of about 18 comes home,
possibly from Merchant Navy, to his mother and her new "boyfriend". His father
is currently serving a term of imprisonment for repeatedly beating the mother.
Learning that his mother has a new man in her life, he says "But at least this
one doesn't beat you up" to which she replies. "Well, not often". The son's
reaction is "Oh Mum, you pick 'em don't you?" or something close
It ends with the son kicking the man out of the house, with the warning that
"My Dad got five years for hitting her - and he was her husband. You'll
probably get _ten_ years"
For a long time I thought this was a scene from _The Blue Lamp_ but on
rewatching TBL it wasn't there. Can anyone recall it?
