1916: TOM COUND, who played Group Captain Hawkins in "The Deadly
Mantis", is born.
1918: Suit actor SHOICHI "SOLOMON" HIROSE is born. He played King Kong
in "King Kong vs. Godzilla" and King Ghidorah in "Ghidrah -- The
Three-Headed Monster" and "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero". He appeared in
human form in "The Invisible Man", an escaped convict in "Godzilla
Raids Again", Onishi's henchman in "The Secret of the Telegian", the
doomed burly guard in "The Human Vapor", a tunnel worker in
"Frankenstein Conquers the World", an escaped slave in "Godzilla versus
the Sea Monster", a soldier in "War of the Gargantuas", and a
henchman-type in "The Seven Samurai", "Atragon", and "King Kong
Escapes", and was also in "The Three Treasures".
1938: MICKEY CURTIS, who played Emporer Guillotine on the "Dimensional
Warrior Spielban" movie and TV series, Bansho in "Gunhed", and Sniper
in "8 Man", is born in Tokyo. He was also in "Izo".
1942: HIROKI MATSUKATA, who was in "The Magic Serpent", is born Hiroki
Meguro in Tokyo.
1951: MICHAEL MCCONNOHIE is born in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the voice
of Kamiya in "Zeiram 2", Fiddlebot on "V.R. Troopers", Strike Out on
"Power Rangers Turbo", Motor Mantis on "Power Rangers Lost Galaxy",
Mantevil on "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue", and a narrator on "Power
Rangers Wild Force".
1953: Toho International, Inc. establishes its office in Los Angeles.
1962: HIROSHI MIKAMI, who played Tokiashi Nagashima in "Parasite Eve",
is born in Tokyo.
1972: Episode 17 of "Superhuman Barom-1" debuts on Japanese TV.
1973: Episode 17 of "Zone Fighter", "Go! Fighter Emergency Take Off!",
debuts on Japanese TV.
RANKO AKAGI, who played the mother in "Kwaidan", dies.
JUN MURAKAMI, who played Aokage in "Red Shadow" and Seiji Hayami in
"Cutie Honey", is born in Tokyo.
1974: Episode 14 of "Inazuman Flash" debuts on Japanese TV.
1976: "King Kongui daeyeokseub" a.k.a. "Ape" is released in South
Korea.
1977: Episode 16 of "JAKQ Blitzkrieg Squad", "The Black Baseball!! The
Attacking Demonic Sphere", debuts on Japanese TV.
1979: Episode 12 of "Megaloman, Warrior of Fire", "The Great
Challenge", debuts on Japanese TV.
1982: VIC MORROW, who played General Garuda in "Message from Space", is
killed in a helicopter accident on the set of "Twilight Zone: The
Movie".
1984: BESS FLOWERS, who played a nightclub patron behind the drunks in
"Mighty Joe Young" and a ballet-goer in "The Beast From 20,000
Fathoms", dies in Woodland Hills, Calif.
1988: Episode 23 of "Super Animal Task Force Liveman", "Space Karaoke
Appearance", debuts on Japanese TV.
1989: Episode 38 of "Kamen Rider Black RX", "The Wicked Dance Troupe of
the White Bone Field", debuts on Japanese TV.
1993: Episode 22 of "Five Star Task Force Dairanger", "The Great
Secrets of the Tiger's Cub", debuts on Japanese TV.
1994: HANS J. SALTER, who composed stock music used in "20 Million
Miles to Earth" and "King Kong vs. Godzilla", dies of cardiac arrest in
Los Angeles.
1999: G-FEST '99 begins at the Burbank Airport Hilton in Burbank,
Calif. Shusuke Kaneko, Noriaki Yuasa, Robert Scott Field, Jerry Ito,
Hiroshi Kashiwabara, Wataru Mimura, Volker Engel, Forrest J. Ackerman,
Peter Fernandez, Corrinne Orr, and Hisetaka Kitaoka are among the
special guests.
2000: Episode 25 of "Kamen Rider Kuuga", "Wandering", debuts on
Japanese TV.
