I know this theater and have attended performances there. It's
actually in the little town of Devonport, NZ, a 12 minute ferry ride
across the bay from downtown Auckland. On what they call the North
Shore. The theater has been purchased by the North Shore Council and
is being renovated. It has been remodeled numerous times and is
somewhat unique in that it has three screens - so what? - they are on
three different levels. The middle one is a very small one, sort of
half way up the staircase. Hard to describe. www.thevic.co.nz is
their website - I'm sure if you have an extra dollar or two they are
more than happy to accept donations toward the renovation.

An Inspiration. This film shows how a small group of dedicated people
have added to the cultural assets of their community. They faced
opposition but with considerable effort ,they succeeded. The citizens
will now have more knowledge and pride in their history and a greater
sense of identity.

History of Film 101 - Boy, I sure am glad I signed up for this class at college. Now I finally know the real history of the silent film era. For instance, I was never aware that Harold Lloyd *doesnt* rank as a major comedian or film star of that era. Evidently his films..

Intertitles Through History - I've been watching the Arbuckle box and first would like to say it's wonderful. Really great, clear prints, commentary, the whole works. And clearly a labor of love. Just would like to thank everyone involved. I do have one question about a comment made...

Thoughts on History of Film (1) - Well, I just completed my first history of film course at college. And I must say, that more interesting than the films we watched and the history we learned, was the class itself. I had been well-prepared for a dumbed-down basic course. I expected for....

When will film be taken seriously as a piece of history? - Film seems to be one of the most ignored of the art forms in the historical sense.
