The fourth channel on my 442, typically the boom, will increase the
background noise briefly when I am adjusting the level. It doesn't
happen all the time but occurs when I apply pressure to the bottom of
the knob towards the top of the mixer. My 442 came with the original
small round knobs and I put the larger ones on after they became
standard equipment on the new 442s. I do have a friend who is
experiencing the same problem. Could it be related to that channel
having phantom power for the boom. The pot doesn't seem loose.
Any ideas, it's not a big problem but want to know if anyone else is
having this issue.

I've had the same issue. Got it cleaned and that fixed the issue.

DW closed up about a month ago or so. Personal issues were given as
the reason.
