80cm 4:3 TV's with 16:9 mode under $1000?

Post subject: 80cm 4:3 TV's with 16:9 mode under $1000?

I've seen lots of 80cm standard ratio TV's for under $1000, but none
of them specify whether they do 16:9 mode or not.

Normally I would assume that if they're not advertised as having that
mode, then I can assume it's not there.

However, several posts in this, and other, forums have indicated that
many, if not most, salespeople are ignorant of this feature and thus
don't advertise it as a selling point.

So, can anyone nominate any models that have this feature for under
$1000?

Just buy a 76cm widescreen set :) Thomson/RCA/DSE/Orion/Wintel sets
are available for under $1k.

Try the RCA versions. Mate bought an 80 (78??) 18months ago and I was
surprised to find it could perform a 16:9 squeeze. No advertising the fact
but It isn't hard to try out in the store if you can relieve the sales driod
of the remote. 8-)

TROUBLE is, they all flicker so much, got to get a 100Hz model,
the difference (for me) is staggering since i'm so used to hi grade
monitors all day long,

Whats the cheapest 16:9 with 100Hz - now thats the quesiton
