Yes, the numbers are very rough. I've posted under several different
addresses myself over the years, and that may have kept me off the
list.

Well, no matter what Chaplin-related topic comes up, we can always
transform it into a political discussion in no time. It's our own
version of "the six degrees of Kevin Bacon."

Example:

Poster #1: "Chaplin is so funny in THE TRAMP."

Poster #2: "Yes, I love all that slapstick with the pitchfork, and
dropping those big bags of grain on people and stuff."

Poster #3: "But Chaplin's slapstick violence isn't directed just at
his fellow farmhand, but also at Edna's father, who owns the farm. I'm
surprised to see the old man being made the butt of the joke."

Poster #4: "This is a typical expression of class envy. The
capitalist gives Charlie a job, and gets abuse in return. Ironically,
Chaplin was wealthier than that farmer could've ever hoped to be, so
Chaplin's a hypocrite as well. But at least that scene must've gone
over well with his Marxist pals."

(Debate about collectivization in the Ukraine follows)

Actually, Shush, these numbers are misleading.

Connie has posted more than the 4,481 times she's listed under her two e-mail
addresses, because I believe she's posted under more than just those two. She
has to be over 5,000 posts, which makes me tired just to think about it.

It doesn't list my previous e-mail address (NEWI48D@Prodigy.com) which would
kick my number up to over 1,000.

And if you factor out all of George's off-topic political rants, the number of
*his* posts would be in the single digits. :)

Ahem! I spent some time posting here before the group propagated enough to
carry on a discusion, so I had a head start by default. I think several of
the posters on Shush's list have had more than one e-mail address, and
therefore have posted more often than these numbers suggest.

Yeah, that's it ... and don't forget, 600 posts later it'll STILL have
the topic of "The Tramp is Funny!" :-)
