Hi
Is this a stupid idea? I want to increase the range of my 195s for a job
next week. Rather then spending a lot of money on a special antenna for it,
why not use a roof top UHF TV antenna? I can get one with about 17dB of
gain. Do I run the risk of cooking the input of my receiver?
I may look at doing the same with my rack mount Sennheiser receivers.

Am I mad?

Adam

I occasionally used to buy ordinary yagi rooftop TV antennas when I was
on the road with my VHF wireless. Radio Shack always had something
clunky but inexpensive that would work and give a bit of gain. You'll
probably need a 300-80ohm transformer/adapter and some BNC plugs to
convert the cable run to BNC coax. They're cheap. If the gain is
really +17db you might want to pad that down to +6 or 8 if your cable
runs are less than 50'. There's a risk of overloading the front end of
your receivers.
good luck

p/n 15-2160, under $25 IIRC.
