Hi all,

Audio Ltd have some software to interface with their Envoy and new
2040 range of wireless.

They have a version for Palm Pilot which i have successfully used with
hired in Envoys complete with a Palm Pilot in the past. The scan
function is superb and gives a bar graph showing whats on your
frequencies.

I'd tried Palm Pilot emulators on windows mobile but couldnt map the
IR port so ended up buying a used Palm Pilot iiie from eBay. I
couldn't get the software on, it would give a "fatal error" and not
boot requiring the batterys to be removed for half an hour to do a
reset. I spent ages trying different things but no joy.

I've just received another Palm (visor deluxe) from eBay and that too
has the same problem. Different units, different PC's, different Palm
Desktop Programs aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhh!

I remember a local hire shop had problems getting the software on in
the past but Audio Ltd say they have never had such problems in the
past.

Anyone got any suggestions?

i would like to think that audio ltd would get round to writing
something that could run on windows mobile (or even the iphone) as it
would be great to be able to access stuff on hardware that is
reasonably current. and it would be nice if they could update their
intermod software to run on windows mobile and mac (and return results
in frequencies that the 2020 / 2040 can be tuned too, though that may
be a channel 69 thing and us/european models have different frequency
steps available).
though for scanning, i went and bought a cheap-o hand held scanner
that i could program in all the frequencies that my 2040's could pick
up, which has helped occasionally

Hi Mat

I have just succesfully reinstalled Audir onto a Palm IIIe. Never had
to do it before but I had left it unused for so long that the Palm had
lost all its settings.

I used Palm Desktop 4.1 for Windows (PalmDesktop41ENG.exe) which was
supplied to me by Audio Ltd but I think it can be found here:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/add_downloads.html

It seemed to have the Hotsync Manager built in. Once I realised that
you had to find the corresponding Hotsync application on the Palm itself
it installed the programme far more easily than I was expecting. I used
a serial to Palm lead.

Not sure if that helps! Good luck!

David

The Palm Pilot Vark sent to me during my evaluation and subsequent review
article worked just fine.

BTW, I have just uploaded my review of the 2040 to my OnLine Archive. It's a
pdf in the Mic Review Folder. In addition I have COS-11, 2040 .wav files
recorded to my 744T in my Audio folder. I was extremely impressed by the
audio quality and the range,
