We are compiling a dictionary of audiovisual industry terms (called
Hollywords) that covers all aspects of the industry, from concept
through production, distribution, and criticism. We augment our
various definitions with examples and anecdotes that provide further
insight into a particular term (it use, history, importance to the
industry, etc.) or that we think will interest/amuse the reader. We
don't want to limit ourselves to the traditional mainstream
"classics," so we need your help to inject a bit of the odd or
obscure.
The goal of the Hollywords dictionary is to provide a single,
authoritative resource for industry professionals and enthusiasts who
encounter terms from outside their normal area of expertise. Our
humble goal is to foster free, open, and accurate communication across
the various specializations that make up the audiovisual industry as a
whole. (More information about the Hollywords project can be found at
www.hollyword.org, or you can write us at info DeleteThis @hollyword.org.)
If you're passionate about movies, television, or video games and want
to share your enthusiasm with others, then we would love to hear from
you. In addition to providing a positive contribution to the
audiovisual industry, contributors will also be acknowledged in the
print publication and will earn a share of the publishing royalties.
Thank you for your time. We hope to hear from you soon.
