I have updated BWF-Widget Pro again (Ver 1.138) and following suggestions of
some users have added the ability to use BWF-Widget Pro with most common
Serial Foot-Pedal Controls so it can be used by typists to transcribe audio
Files created on the set. For those mixers out there who are working with
File Based recorders like the 744T or Fostex FR-2 , PD-6 or DEVA, and have
been requested to record a cassette or DAT with Time Code for submission for
transcription, There is an alternative workflow using BWF-Widget Pro that
eliminates a lot of extra hardware and software on each end.
At the end of the day the Mixer would use BWF-Widget Pro to Batch Convert
all the takes needed for transcription to Mono MP-3s using the method that
also imbeds the original Time Code, User Bits, Scene & Take Number and Note
metadata in the greatly compressed MP-3 files.
These Time-Coded MP-3 files can then be quickly emailed or FTP'd to a
transcription service that could use BWF-Widget Pro with their Foot Pedal
control and their favorite word processor to log or transcribe the audio
files with accurate time code and Metadata that is identical to the
original Broadcast Wave Files.
This eliminates the outboard Cassette or Minidisk recorder with TC cables
etc.on the Production side, and eliminates any special LTC decoders and
translators and Tape Decks on the Transcriptionist's side. All they need is
the BW-Pro software and a laptop or PC to transcribe time-coded files.
Those people out there involved with this type of workflow can ask their
transcription company to download the Demo software at
www.bwfwidget.com
(pro version only works with footpedal) and try it in place of any
transcription software they are using now.
