The Omega Man.

I got this idea from the "I Am Legend" trailer, with Will Smith.

How about Vincent Price's "The Last man on Earth"?

Sonebody needs to make a film of Richard Matheson's book, "I am
Legend".

No no no no no - what you want to remake is "Quatermass and the Pit" (UK
- 1967)
aka "Five Million Years to Earth". Great low budget Sci/fi.

Not to be a spoiler, but today the climatic scene would look a bit silly.

Don't be silly. Nobody films books any more!

Agreed. I don't know much about the film coming out next month, but
judging from Will Smith's past work, I'm afraid it'll be lots of
explosions and one-liners. After reading the book for the first time a
few years back, I thought a more CSI approach with Wiiliam Peterson
would be truer to the source material.

"The Green Slime" (1968)

"Lifeforce" (1985) only if they can find someone as good looking as
Mathilda May

Modern films offer better technology rather than better drama
or better humour.
Therefore the type of film which I think might benefit from a remake
would be a prewar one, obviously clunky because of the technology.

"The Jazz Singer" Definitely, but where would we ever get such a singer
again?

"Things to Come" Definitely. Little change required but even more convincing
aeroplanes, rocketship etc. (Not forgetting to provide an Actor)

It's amusing to think what Hollywood might do with a remake of "Henry V"
(1944)

How about "Battleship Potemkin"(1925) :-)

The "Bicycle Thieves"?

I'm guessing that means starting off Shakespeare's play in the globe
theater again. Otherwise it is simply a remake of the play.

Well, Henry could lose at Agincourt, and all of England would wind up
speaking French.

Isn't it already a remake of THE OMEGA MAN? I know it's officially
based on "I Am Legend," by Richard Matheson, also the basis for THE
OMEGA MAN, but I'm guessing the new movie probably draws more from
OMEGA MAN than from the book or the 1964 film version of the book, THE
LAST MAN ON EARTH.

But it isnt if it's a film is it?
The film is made to look like a play but in essence becomes
something which sits between a film and a play.
At times it looks very much as though the whole cast is squeezed on
a theatre stage, and at others, clearly a film set as Olivier strolls
amongst his men the eve of the battle.
I never felt it recalled the days of the original Globe theatre, although
your opinion is noted.
