In 'Frenzy', why is Brenda's marriage bureau called the 'Blaney Bureau'
if she's been divorced (from Richard Blaney) for some time?

(Simplest but probably most improbable answer: her maiden name was
Brenda Blaney!)

Seriously though, I think this significant in that it displays certain
characteristics of Brenda herself .. i.e. maybe she still has feelings
for her ex .. or maybe they divorced only relatively recently and she's
the sensible businesswoman, keeping the company name because its an
established corporate identity. Personally, I opt for the latter.

I certainly don't think Brenda wants to 'get back' with Richard. When
she accepts him into her office (in her first scene), we can see how
nervous but more importantly, how understanding she is of her
ex-husband's mood swings, as she expertly finesses them and gets him to
join her for dinner that evening.

Though Brenda displays unease with being alone with each of her husband
(in her first scene) and, subsequently, the villain Rusk, she seems to
be the more so with the latter .. again attempting to finesse but this
time, in vain.

It seems to me Richard really isn't as bad as he seems or even as he
thinks .. at least, unlike the psychopath Rusk, he's 'firing on all
cylinders' (so-to-speak) when it comes to understanding he's made
Brenda uncomfortable .. whereas Rusk visibly enjoys the effect he's
having.

She kept her married name even though she was divorced. Many women do.

The important thing to remember is .. Brenda *could* have changed her
name back if she'd really wanted. Does this tell us something about the
nature of Brenda, if only as a businesswoman?
