A good case for de-colorization.
Growing up I saw this film at least half a dozen times on our B&W TV and
found it scary and atmospheric.
Rented the DVD not even realizing the film was in color. We found it ugly
and just plain silly. My wife joked "The blob looks like strawberry jam.
Maybe they should bake a big pie."
Then we watched a few selected scenes with the color off, and...cool! I
dont think it's just nostalgia, partly because my wife agreed and she had
never seen the film before. With the gaudy colors the film lacks that
other-worldly look and feel. It's not a great film either way, but much
more enjoyable in B&W.
