I remember watching a Bronson flick called _Heartbreak Pass_, which is a
Western in which Bronson plays an intelligence agent. Among other things
it includes a shootout with a kidnapper called Calhoun.

The reference I find on the net is to _Breakheart Pass_, which is about
an army intelligence agent, but the details sound different. For
example, I don't remember anything about Archie Moore in the film I saw.

Have I gone sideways in time or are those two the same movie?

Miki

I'm enjoying the image of someone watching "Brokeback Mountain" and
waiting for Bronson to appear.

Moore had a fight with Bronson on top of a moving train.

Ain't no such film as "Heartbreak Pass" - it's definitely "Breakheart Pass",
although I see from Google that other people have made the same error.
Perhaps it gets confused with Clint Eastwood's "Heartbreak Ridge".

I can only think of two Bronson movies worth watching.
"Once Upon A Time In The West" and "Hard Times"

How about movies where he isn't the major star?

I liked _Telefon_ and Bronson's performance in it as well. The
Western he made with his wife Jill Ireland _ From Noon Till Three -
had its points of interest also..

I would probably amend that, suggesting that Bronson's decision to
participate in the sequels was a bad choice. You might abhor the
politics, but I would argue that the first _Death Wish_ (1974) is
better than many people remember (if they have seen it at all) and was
an effective film in a crude and visceral fashion. And if one is going
to argue that Bronson's involvement in that first film was a mistake,
they would have to take into account the fact that it did quite well
at the box office and, in addition, generated a lot of critical buzz
(some positive, some negative).

Yrs,

Michael

When you get a feeling about an actor, it's hard to see any of their films
with objectivity. There are a number of actors who do this to me.

I would suggest
Chato's Land 1972
Breakout 1975
Telefon 1977
as interesting films in which he took part.

He will be forever connected with Michael Winner and the Death Wish
films. That was a bad chioce for him, although he might have thought
as others do, that to keep working was better than being choosy.

I liked The Mechanic, though I haven't seen it for a long time.

Bronson's films of the 70's are all very entertaining. "Mr. Majestyk"
- (1974) is a hoot. (I just want to get my melons picked) "The Stone
Killer" - (1973) is as tough a cop thriller as any Dirty Harry's.
"Hard Times" - (1975) has terrific fistfight scenes with Bronson
giving a melancholy performance as his character seems to be used by
fast-talking James Colburn.
I was in high school on the 70's and my pals and I ran to the latest
Bronson releases as much as we flocked to Eastwood.
