Can anyone give us some background on this film please. Have got the new 2
disc set and watched all the documentarys. This film is my favourite
Chaplin.

You pulled up quite a few old posts on threaded readers with this one,
Nick. Hint: Try to make your subject line more specific.

What kind of background did you want? You can find chapters on _City
Lights_ in many books on Chaplin. I'd recommend David Robinson's
books, and also Jeff Vance's recent one, which has an informative text
and many good photos.
