Hi,
I am not afraid to appear ignorant in my search for knowledge
but I came across Coffin Joe a while back and was wondering what the
deal was with this? I was hoping to hear input from everyone because I
can't seem to find out what the big deal is and why he would be
deserving of a box set. I like horror films from all periods and all
countries so if anyone could help illuminate this for me I sure would
appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chuck

Check out some of Coffin Joe's films and see for yourself
what the deal is.

What did you want me to say? If I stated that the films are
worth watching would you immediately run out and buy the box
set? Did you use Google to see how people responded to the
same question asked by other people? Did you want me to
write a thesis paper on the topic and send it to you?

Just wanted some input Andrew, not a thesis paper . . . but thanks
again, that was even more helpful

Chuck

Just out of curiosity -- have you even seen them?

I have seen a number of Coffin Joe films and even own the
Coffin Joe box set. I think the films are worthwhile and
should be readily available for rental or purchase on R1 DVD.

Use Google and search for Coffin Joe in the alt.horror
newsgroup, he has been discussed numerous times.

Hi Chuck,
I have seen them and a documentary about him. In Canada we have the
Scream channel and they have shown them a few times.
His films aren't for everyone. They are very raw and nightmarish in the
way he presents them. He liked to keep it real, so if you see someone in a
Coffin Joe film terrified because a bunch of tarantuals are crawling over
them, then he has probably just thorn a bunch of REAL tarantulas over them.
One film he does deals with the effects of LSD and is kind of creepy in a
different way.
The Coffin Joe character has long fingernails, A black cape, and a top
hat if I remember correctly. He's kind of a twisted romantic searching for a
wife that will provide him with offspring.
They have a huge cult following and it's probably better to rent one or
see if you can get one cheap on-line before plunking out a large chunk of
cash for something you may not like.
Hope this helps...
I really hate it when someone answers a question with " Well you could
try Google."
Part of the reason people come to a newsgroup is to talk and exchange
information about topics they enjoy. The google answer is a cop-out.

Anyway if we wanted sleep-inducing thesis we'd read a review by Paghat..

The Google answer is not a cop-out. Why should posters such
as my self keep repeating themselves when it easy enough to
perform a search and read my thoughts on the topic? After a
simple Google search the original poster, Chuck, should have
enough information to know if it is worthwhile for him to
rent or purchase Coffin Joe films.

Sorry Andrew I didn't mean to make a judgement call, I understand what you
mean.

I like the films as well, didn't know about the box set though.

Andrew,
Thank you. I was not trying to pick a fight so much as just
get some people talking. I will check them out . . .
