My daughter has a dance studio and she is looking for that which is in
the subject line above. This would be to shoot students' dance routines
and hand them a DVD of some recordable type immediately post lesson. She
has so far found only such cameras as record to min-DVD. Pointers?

Thanks.

Courtney,

If I understand correctly, the LiteOn records directly to the removable
media. How long does finalization take, relative to program length?

Finalization takes 2~3 minutes on my Liteon 5005 machines.
I haven't noticed that it is proportional to recording length?

Thanks, Richard. So finalization just takes however long is needed to
write the TOC, etc.

It seems to depend on how many chapters and files are recorded on the disk.
The disks I have finalized take anywhere from less than 1 min to about 8 min
to finalize.

A disk with a single recording finalizes very quickly. One with many starts
and Stops takes longer. Of course you don't need to finalize the disk to
play it back on the Liteon Recorder or any other DVD recorder that supports
the Recordable format. Just for stand alone players.

My experience is with discs that have one (or two at most) long
"segments", so that may account for the short times I noticed.
I can easily believe 8 minutes for a disc with many segments.

Is it an industry standard? Not proprietary to the make it was
recorded on?
