Hi all. I'm just back from the NAB show in Las Vegas. I had a great
time speaking with many different folks at the show. One product that
I have been eargely awaiting was the new Cooper 6 channel mixer. I had
hoped it would be a great compliment to my Cooper CS 208. I planned to
use it as an insert car mixer and in situations where I didn't have the
time or inclination to pull my cart apart. There is, however what I
would consider a major omission in the design, i.e. there is no EQ
available besides the helpful but limited hi-pass filters. There are
just two many situations we encounter in production sound to be without
equalization. A simple 3 band EQ on each input is for me a minimum
requirement in a professional mixing panel. Another worthy mixer is
manufactured by Audio Developments. It does not posess the same build
quality as the Cooper, nor the factory support, but it has the features
that I need in a mixer. Furthermore, it is less expensive. Best
regards, David Kelson >> Stay informed about: New Cooper Mixer |

| Hi Karl, The mixer I am referring to is the AD145. It's small, has an
almost perfect feature set, and is priced under $3000.00. It's on their
website. That being said I still hope Andy Cooper finds a way to
integrate equlization into his new board. Regards, David Kelson

Which AD model are you mentioning here and how much is that one?

I find this new Cooper mixer (CS306) very close to perfection in it's
category (I won't use EQ usually)
I also find great that it use AA batteries
I'd preffer higher resolution meters (more LEDs, but that means higher
power cons. too)
And would be cool half of it's weight, but that's sort of out of the
question for this type of mixers.
BTH, I was re-viewing the AD245 Pico mixer and was amazed about it's
power consumption, 180mA! It's that right or a typo? >> Stay informed about: New Cooper Mixer |

Are you sure this mixer is under $3000 US? That's about what I paid
for my old AD145 in 1984. The components AD uses are very high quality
(P+G faders, Selco meters, Belcor xformers), it isn't a cheap mixer to
produce. I like that they finally added output limters and a stereo
return the 145 design, but it still lacks any kind of Aux sends.

Has anyone tried or seen the new AD 255 ?

Actually there is another downside--it still has stepped input
attenuators, which drove me crazy on my AD145 for many years. I wonder
if it has better headroom than the 145, and if they've moved on from
TLO72 and 5534 op amps. Anyone know? Seems very cheap for such a high
quality mixer.
That under $3k price--how many inputs? Long or short throw faders? VU
or PPM?
If AD can fit Aux sends to this mixer that is a good thing. It is also
a new thing, since they told me they could not do this w/ my AD145 back
in the day.
