Hi,

I have a question about a scene from M1. Cypher was sitting in the
operator's chair when Neo approached him. The two of them talked for a bit
and then Neo left. Right after this, Cypher is inside the Matrix, sitting
down to dinner with Smith. My question is... If someone is going into the
Matrix, don't they need an operator to send them into the Matrix and bring
them back from it? And if so, who was Cypher's operator when he went into
the Matrix to meet Smith? If it was no one, how is this possible? And if
it was someone, wouldn't they question why we wanted to go into the Matrix
by himself?

Indeed. Ergo, the Wachowski brothers from their on-line chat:

"Cypher, at the beginning of this scene, is setting up an automated
system to allow him to go meet with Agent Smith."

this has been covered before, but the gist of it was basically that there is
no evidence that there is anyone required ..

There is in every instance we see, but this may well be simply for safety

perhaps the strapping down is simply to control reactions to violent
situations .. Since he was going into a known meeting, he probably didnt
need to strap himself in too well.. and could easily have hacked up a
program to be his operator ..

on incoming call, remove person from the matrix .. or perhaps even an
automated exist system ..

cypher - Anybody know how Cypher can jack into the matrix to negotiate with Smith without the aid of an operator? And what was Trinity and Cypher talking about at the beginning? Kill Thomas Anderson? Why? Love the movie but I can't figure these out. A logical...

Questions about Cypher - Don't know if this has been asked and I'm sorry to repeat it if it has but here goes. I was watching Matrix today and saw the scene when Neo walks up on Cypher as he's looking at the Matrix (presumably setting up he's meeting with agent Smith). Then the....

smith: well not exactly - i don`t know if this topic was discussed here . I think that in M2 when smith said , It's happening exactly as before., his clone answered well not exactly, it means that in former matrixes the ones did`nt destroyed smith so he couldn`t have copied..

Smith + Neo = One - Disclaimer: This is speculation, only meant to spark discussion. Recall the very last scene of Revolutions. When Smith takes over Neo's avatar, they are no longer two entities, but one combined. As we are shown by the Oracle lying in the mud afterward...
