The question has come up from time to time if this was ever released
in 3-D on video. The anwer is that it was released that way on the
Japanese Field Sequential system back in the 1980s (so was House of
Wax, Jaws 3-D, Friday the 13th Part 3, etc). As with all the Japanese
3-D laserdiscs, collectors snapped them up and grey market copies
surface from time to time on Ebay. So if you have the kit, the 3-D
looks pretty good. The one annoying thing is the fact that there's
Japanese subtitles across the bottom and they are occassionally
distracting.

Incidentally, I saw this at the World 3-D Film Expo II back in
September in Hollywood. It really looks quite spectacular in it's
original dual projector 3-D system. That actually wasn't the first
time I've seen it in 3-D in the movies. The LaFayette Theater in
Suffern, NY had it as part of a 3 Days of 3-D weekend back in 2004 and
the (now closed) GCC Northeast 4 in Philadelphia, PA had three
showings of the single strip version back in 1996. I went to two of
the three screenings there. They screwed up the first screening
presenting it in reverse 3-D for the first half hour or so before
fixing it, but the second showing went off without a hitch (pardon the
pun). But the LaFayette and the Egyptian screenings remain the best.
The Film Forum in NYC shows this one once in a while in 3-D as well,
so keep your eyes peeled.

Responses to ... 'Dial M For Murder' (1954) - I don't think there's anything against doing two of these threads at the same time. And anyway, we seem to be talking a bit about ''Dial M ...' in the 'To Catch a Thief' thread. First off, as Will mentionned, there's the colours again .. most famously, ...

Dial M in 3D - The movie was shown in 3D this last Friday, September 19th, at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The screening sold out well before the festival even started, and there was a long line of people hoping to get tickets that had been cancelled.
