Lance Henriksen And The Near Dark Prequel
Lance Herniksen was in an online chat with folks at Sideshow Collectibles.
That was when he mentioned that he and Bill Paxton have talked for years
about doing an extension of Near Dark. He said: "Billy Paxton and I have
talked a lot about this. We would like to do a prequel starting out during
the Civil War and ending where the first film begins."

For people like myself who saw and liked the first film when it came
out, it might make sense. But today, because of "Blade," "Underworld"
and other flashy vampire movies, it's unlikely something like it would
find it's way to the big screen. Like most of Henrickson's current
work, it would go straight to video.

Not necessarily. After all, Dracula, during the course of the original,
grew younger as he fed, so it's possible for the story to suggest that
the two, as mortals at the beginning were biologically older than the
vampires we met in the first movie -- rendered apparently younger by
way of the blood that they'd fed upon.

Or something.

Well, no one is suggesting that vampires, when they drink blood de-age
until they end up in the womb. If you're young and strong when you
become a vampire -- you simply remain at that age. But presumably if
you're on the wrong side of "young and strong" -- then drinking the
blood of others can make you young and strong.

I mean -- that is one of the underlying premises of the original
Dracula -- his original land has been, essentially "drained dry" -- he
no longer drinks blood and is in search of a new younger country in
which to feed - and once in that new country -- he begins to feed and
becomes younger again.

His wives, on the other hand, who do feed -- are not physically old --
however old they might actually be. Drinking blood keeps them young --
at least in appearance.

I don't know -- it doesn't seem all that far-fetched to me.

Very farfetched. Esspecially since this little boy is walking around in
the original film. he has the age of when he became a vampire.
