I do understand why people aren't as enamoured with Scorcese
these days, but I remain a fan of his vision, for lack of a better
term, and I found much to appreciate in both Gangs and Aviator.
Much to deride, but a lot to like as well.

I agree, it was fairly bog standard Hong Kong cop-triad stuff,
but I daresay Scorsese could be able to do something better with
the psychomalogical stuff. He also tends to like creating a
milieau for his flicks, these perfectly crafted worlds with ridiculous
amounts of detail, and I'm not sure how he can go about that
here without diverging significantly from the original.
