If this role doesn't get DiCaprio an Oscar nod (and a win) I don't know
what will.
This movie is close to 2.5 hours but I didn't check my watch one. the
pace of the movie was good. the action was good. The directing was good.
The movie was humorous, dark and serious at different times. I was
thoroughly entertained.
I think all the roles were well cast except for the Nicholson mobster
role. I don't think he quite pulls it off. Matt Damon was good. DiCaprio
was excellent. Martin Sheen was good. Alec Baldwin was good. Even Marky
Mark was good. marky Mark defintely delivers in the end.
The movie is about a mobster infiltrating the police and a policeman
infiltrating the mob and how their world collide leading to a whole
lotta departing.
I had high expectations for this movie and they were, for the most part,
met.
I rate this film 3.5 out of 4.0 stars.
DiCaprio is the best (young) actor out there. I would put him in the
same league as Pacino, Deniro, Washington, Cheadle and Depp. He's not
much to look at but he sure can act! >> Stay informed about: The Departed ==> DiCaprio is all that |

so how do Damon and Leo compare to Tony Leung and Andy Lau? and
Nicholson to Anthony Wong (or is it Eric Tsang? i'm not sure which
role Nicholson plays )

I didn't see Internal Affairs (Mou gaan dou). Andy Lau doesn't see to

OK, I'm sorry, but I've got to know. What it is between Martin
Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio? Is DiCaprio sucking Scorsese's
dick? Why is Scorsese, a great director, putting this little
bleached weasel in all his films? >> Stay informed about: The Departed ==> DiCaprio is all that |

I was floored by IA when i first saw it several years ago. Partly b/c
it was so good and partly b/c HK had been on a quite long drought of
good movies. I enjoyed IA 2 quite a bit also and to a lesser extent IA
3. THere's an interesting cut in the decluse boxset of IA 1-3 edited
in temporal order (IA 2 and 3 are prequels); it's not better, but it
'squite interesting.
I'm hoping that THE DEPARTED is nearly as good as IA and th eearly
reports are that it might be better.... still, i'm keeping my
expectations low b/c i'm always so disappointed (THE LAKE HOUSE
recently, for example).

I'm really really looking forward to this film...I loved Infernal
Affairs and have been excited about this since it was first announced
Scorsese, Nicholson and a great supporting cast - what's not to
love....
Another strong review of it here
http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?menuID=4&subID=811
And I note its got 96% approval on Rotten Tomatoes
Yup, definitely want to see this at the weekend

Sure. Whatever you say. In the "Aviator" he looked like a kid
dressed up in his father's clothes, trying to pretend he was an
adult. I bet he makes a scary gangster. >> Stay informed about: The Departed ==> DiCaprio is all that |

NOBODY is in Pacino's league.
Only Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson and Paul Newman can even come in
his ballpark. >> Stay informed about: The Departed ==> DiCaprio is all that |
