As an FYI:
I was leafing through Donald Ogden Stewarts's autobiography and it has
more than a few references to his relationship with Chaplin. Only
part I'm recalling right now is the two of them hanging out at Henry's
Restaurent. He says if it was just Hollywood people present then it
would only be Hollywood talk, but if there was an outsider present
then the conversation might open up to wider topics. The book seems
to be written from memory because he describes Bergman as Chaplin's
pal stretching back to their days working together at Keystone. There
may be other nuggets to mine in the book but I haven't read it cover
to cover.
