I'd really like to see DR. MABUSE, THE GAMBLER (DR. MABUSE, DER SPIELER), a
1922 German film by Fritz Lang available from Kino Video.

At this time, Netflix doesn't carry this title. I've sent a request that
they add it to their inventory. I'd appreciate if others who belong to
Netflix and might be interested in this film send a request too. That might
increase the chances that they will acquire it. Go to 'Contact Us' at the
bottom of the Netflix screen to get to title requests.

Thanks to anyone who helps me in this effort.

I love this campaign! I'm going to Netflix right now to add my voice
to yours, Randall!

If you'd REALLY like to see it, I suggest you BUY it from Kino.

Yes, it's expensive compared to renting it.

But you're supporting their release of the next thing you REALLY want
to see.

They aren't releasing things because they successfully sell one copy to
Netflix, believe me.

(and-- shhh-- you can always sell it on Ebay or Amazon later, and at
least reduce the cost)

I just submitted a request -- would urge all Netflix subscribers to do
the same, just to see if it works . . .

Buying is best but there's nothing wrong with previewing first on
Netflix, especially if you have a limited budget or suspect the film is
not one you'll want to see twice. I myself have bought films that I
wouldn't have bought otherwise if I hadn't rented them from Netflix first.

I'm convinced that the more silent films are available and seen via
Netflix, the larger the market for buying them (physically or by
download) will become.

Exposure creates and expands markets, if there are markets out there to
be created. Most of us here became purchasers of silent films on DVD
because we first saw them for a few dollars or for free in one-shot
theatrical or television presentations -- just as most of us became
buyers of Beatles albums because we first heard the songs for free on
the radio.

Exposure and availability are everything.

I am a Kino customer. I just can't buy everything I'd like to see. And,
I'm sure others are in my situation. Making a film available on Netflix
gives a film exposure that it wouldn't otherwise get.

I wholeheartedly agree with Lloyd Fonvielle's analysis. A lot of people buy
a title from Kino when they want to add it to a collection. There are
others who may just want to see it when it's available from an affordable
venue.

In addition, I can't speak with certainty, but I believe Kino makes a
considerably larger profit when it sells a title to Netflix than when it
sell to an individual customer like me.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting my campaign. And, I encourage others
to post here to gain support for their request when they find a title that
Netflix doesn't carry. Netflix knows that a good portion of their profits
come from niche markets. So, I believe just a few requests can get them to
add a DVD to their inventory.
