I have read probably in the Widescreen Center page that Kodak search
substitution for VNF-1 7240 film, which has gone. Are there any news
concerning new Ektachrome? Personally I would like to have new 100D
daylight in Super 8 carts , but also the high speed, tungsten balanced
film, as is E160T in still version. The current E6 process I consider
great, because there will be no more needed overconcentrating colour
developer with home processing VNF in E6 chemicals.

Ling live Super 8!

When I talked to Kodak a few weeks ago I was told that there are no
plans for a
new Super8 Ektachrome. They were unable to reformulate the emuilsion
and the
bleach to meet new environmental standards. So it looks as if
Ektachrome is gone.

Also, last month, Kodak stopped manufacturing slide projectors. This
is relevant
because the fate of Super8 Kodachrome is tied to the popularity of
Kodachrome
slide film. So the lackof slide projectors bodes ill. Although I
suppose that many
people look at slides with a loupe and a light table. Still, it's
never good when the
equipment goes out of production....

Open the freezer and start saving color film cartridges. It looks like
super 8 may soon become an exclusively black & white medium.

You'll still have to process them. Plan for that too.

More News:
I just heard from someone on the tech side of Kodak that
they are considering a few new reversal Ektachrome
emulsions--200D, 100D and 64T. I don't know which
they will go with since they are still doing tests and
research. Pretty exciting, and better news that
I had a few weeks ago. Don't have a time-frame
for this either....

hoping,

A blatant lie. Kodak has introduced several new Ektachrome 35mm stocks in
the last few years, all of which are E-6 processed. These would meet the
environmental standards and could be manufactured very easily. It's obvious
that Kodak is re-evaluating the total demand for Super-8 film, and hasn't
yet committed to keeping Super-8 in production.

Kodachrome is just about dead. With worldwide demand only enough to keep
three plants busy, I'd be very surprised if you see Kodachrome around in
five more years. Buy some Kodachrome now if you wish to continue using it!
