I thought she was phenomenal. Every time she went upstairs to that
room, her dread, anticipation, concern for Regan and her physical
actions were not only different -- but built in intensity throughout
the film. Without her anchoring performance as the mother -- no matter
how good everybody else was -- the film wouldn't have been grounded in
reality and wouldn't have worked. That it DID work seems to be the
consensus after 30 years. Except for you.
