I think the M3 couldn't have ended any differently. It really pisses me off
to hear/read that people were disappointed with it.
Do they think that Neo should have killed Smith and destroyed all the
machines while the Oricle taught Trinity how to bake cookies? Then at the
end the humans could have traveled back onto solid ground and watched the
sunset while children laughed and bunnies hopped around freely.
Or maybe the 3rd installment should have been a musical!?!? Ya! Keanu has
his band, he can probably carry a tune.
Sorry, but no.
And yes, Trinity had to die in the LAST MOVIE MADE OF THE SERIES. Her role
in the story was as an aid for Neo, to support him in what he needed to do
in order to resolve issue at hand. She completed the role, and then she
REALLY completed her role. For the Trinity pro-lifers out there, lets
contemplate for a second on what would have happened if she wouldn't have
been impaled by more than a couple metal rods when she crashed. Hmm, she
would have been killed when she got out by the machines because 1. She's not
the one and 2. She doesn't have super duper orange vision. So she would
have died anyway.
Also, Neo had to have some sort of final resolution. It couldn't have ended
with him shaking hands with a machine and walking away with a pistol wink as
the movie fades to credits. The entire trilogy was Neo doing everything
that he can understand to do in order to resolve the issue at hand. And
wow, beleive it or not, it ment sacrifying himself.
With that being said, if I hear/read anyone else complain about the ending I
will decapitate them with a tire iron. >> Stay informed about: The Ending to M3 (Spoiler... obvoiusly) |

I agree, Neo had a purpose and that purpose was to balance the equation by
destroying himself and taking Smith with him. Trinity didn't have any other
purpose so she didn't have to live, and besides, would she go on living
after Neo was gone? I don't think so, Neo had to die too.
The Oracle wanted the war to end, nothing more and nothing less, nobody was
talking about destroying the machines, that would have been another kind of
"The Renaissance" in Animatrix, and that is not a way to find peace, you
can't achieve peace by fighting and fighting continuously and I think that
the Oracle knew that, it was one of the things that the Architect learned at
the end...

I agree ... even for all of us, the meaning of our life is to FIND our
purpose and fulfill that purpose. Neo's purpose was unique, as ours is;
his purpose was a struggle to unfold it, as our is; he acted on what he
knew at the moment, as we should; as he understood and acted, he understood
more, as we will.
As the Oracle said, we know only up to the current choice!
Take the red pill!

I went to see M3 today and I thought it was awesome. Yes sometimes
heros must die in movies. It was as if they served their purpose and
ultimately died after fullfilling it.
I can't wait for the DVD release. >> Stay informed about: The Ending to M3 (Spoiler... obvoiusly) |

I saw it again today and I totally agree with you that Trinity must die.
If she were still alive then Neo might not have let Smith win at the
end. He will keep on fighting.

Smith won at the end??? I don't think so.
Smith was a virus, and Neo was the antivirus! Smith was eradicated.
