OK, I am about to commence watching and rewatching the Essanay shorts,
watching Keystones from which some of the films got their inspiration, and
giving some attention to later ones that drew from ideas formulated at
Essanay. On top of that I will be doing a lot of research on these films
and this period.
I am going to post my initial assessment of each film in this newsgroup,
beginning with His New Job and going chronologically. I welcome comments,
ideas, arguments, objections, and whether or not Ann Coulter would think
these films are funny.
Whether or not you agree or disagree with what I have to say about each
short, I know I will benefit a lot from anything that any of you may choose
to contribute. Naturally you may email me as well, especially if you have
special insights or knowledge that would be helpful.
I will acknowledge every one who helps in the book (but not by your screen
names, so we can talk about that later).
There is no possible way I could tell any of you how much I appreciate the
posts you have already offered and your continued eagerness to help. I hope
somehow you realize how much it means to me.
Jim
