JERRY STAHL reading & booksigning for "I, Fatty"
- Monday, July 12, 7 pm
@ The Booksmith (1644 Haight Street in San Francisco)

Jerry Stahl has woven a morality tale from which there is no escape.
Dedicated as ever to exploring life's dark sides, the acclaimed author
of Permanent Midnight shows his heart in "I, Fatty" - a sympathetic,
sad, and uproarious faux memoir of silent film star Roscoe "Fatty"
Arbuckle. Framed for a crime he didn't commit, and demonized by
conservative powers that hyped the case, Fatty Arbuckle was the first
modern celebrity whose presumed guilt galvanized the nation.

Jerry Stahl is the author of the best selling memoir "Permanent
Midnight," which was made into a movie starring Ben Stiller, and the
novels "Perv - A Love Story" and "Plainclothes Naked." His fiction and
nonfiction have been featured in magazines including Esquire and
Playboy, and he writes the monthly Culture column for Details. Stahl
has also written extensively for film and television, including the
hit series CSI.
