Post subject: My Favorite Hitchcock Silent Film
Archived from groups: alt>movies>hitchcock (more info?)

I watch films on a 9" TV/DVD player in my car during lunch everyday
at work. Watching in 'serial' style, I see about 22 minutes each day
and then return to work where I can always reflect back on what I've
seen if I'm having a slow day. Since I work nearly every day of the
year, I'm able to watch more than 125 hours of program per year. Much
like reading, my retention is greater than watching films from start to
finish.
This week, I decided to watch "The Manxman" (1929) and it is just
about my favorite film of all time. 'Video Yesteryear' calls "Manxman"
a "poetic, emotionally intense and absorbing tale of love thwarted by
ambition amd the responsiilities of friendship." It is visually
stunning to me as I follow the carfully crafted story. I've watched
this DVD four times since I bought it two years ago and it gets better
with each viewing.
