Thanks Gareth for your help on the titles. I had completely forgotten
the titles, it has been so long. They all checked out on the imdb. I
noticed that one of my favorite writers, Robert Bloch had written
one of the stories.
I have one more title that I had failed to mention in my earlier post.
I know it is not included in one of the prior titles, its time period
I believe is even earlier, circa 1970 or so. Like the other films
this is from an anthology. The film was almost totally
disinteresting (to me), except for one story. I believe the story
was directed by Fellini, but when I checked his works I couldn't
match titles with the plot; perhaps I overlooked it, or the title
in the U.S. may not be familiar.
PLOT:
There is this jet-setting actor who is strongly adored by fans
all over the world (he may have been a rock star, but I
think he was too old--I'm not certain of this.) To achieve
all of his acclaim, popularity and wealth, he had to sell his soul
to the devil. The devil wants to collect, the payment is NOW due.
The devil wants this guy's head. In the final scene we see where
the famed actor has been in an accident. He has been decapitated.
The devil, a pale little blonde girl about 10 years old picks up
the head and completly satisfied, moves on.
The story is not scary in the classical sense, but the director
uses strange visuals that make the story. Watching the
film in the theater, it seems like you are on an LSD trip.
One feels a sense of melancholy, and deep depression.
If this is not Fellini someone did an excellent job of
imitating him. It is pre David Lynch, and though he (DL) is
weird, it is not his visual style and temperment. I don't
know if the film will work on TV however. Do you
know the name of this film? Even though the anthology
was bad, I would buy the film just for this acid trip segment.
Thanks again,
Del
