Hi there.
This sounds like it could be a 1971 Ken Loach movie called Family Life. It
was written by playwright David Mercer and from what I remember was inspired
by the writings controversial psychologist RD Laing.
Family Life actually began life in The Wednesday Play BBC slot as In Two
Minds, also made by Loach and Mercer. Whenever they do Ken Loach
retropsectives this sometimes gets an airing, so it may be worthwhile
keeping an eye on BBC4.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
