I was thinking buying a Marantz PMD660 to record transcripts. Is there any
Flash Card Player on the market that I can play back from whats recorded on
the Marantz besides a laptop?

Thanks

Presumably any CF player that handles WAV files in a FAT-formatted media
(FlashRAM or disc) The M-Audio Microtrac2496, for example. I'd bet there
many other "consumer"-type players also.

I picked up an Archos Gmini 220 for like $120 and it can take a CF card
and copy it to the internal 20GB hard drive and then play from there.
I use it as a quick and dirty backup when running and gunning - but you
can also use it for playback. (Note that I think the Gmini 220 is
discontinued, but I think you can still find it available.)

Flash recorders - G'day there, I really want to get away from DAT recorders. The Marantz PMD670 is popular here (Oz) especially for student work. I'm thinking of getting one, or should I look for better? I do a lot of lo-budget film and video audio recording. Noone has..
