Post subject: "Flightplan" Hollywood's preachy political correctness (SPOILERS)
Archived from groups: rec>arts>movies>current-films (more info?)

What else could you expect? Of course it was an evil white guy
responsible for the whole thing. Of course we get a lesson in
"tolerance" from Hollywood, the heavy-handed way in which the male
passenger and Foster (though she thought she had a reason) accuse the
A-rabs was made to look SOOOOO terrible, especially at the end when
we get the "there's good in everyone" scene with the Arab, Foster
and her daughter. Wouldn't the story have been 100x better IF Foster
had suspected the air marshall and it turned out to be the Arabs
instead?
Before I saw the Foster movie, there were trailers for two others
shown.
One was "The Prizewinner of Defiance Ohio" and P.C. feministically
affirming story of one woman's quest to become the breadwinner of a
family and her smothering loser white male husband. Set in 1965.
The second one was the P.C. affirming story of a basket ball team
in...1966 that has the first all-black starting line-up where the
black players show how superior they are to the whites of the time.

Hollywood has been following this boring, P.C. path even more
fervently over the past 10 years and what has it gotten them?
Declining movie ticket sales. When are they going to wake up
and realize Americans (and especially foreign markets where mindless
action means more than plot) are obviously not buying their "message"
pictures and want movies again???

My showing skipped this one and showed the previews for the "...P.C.
feministically affirming story...", "North Country", instead. Billed
as "A fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual
harassment case in the United States -- Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines,
where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner
filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit." Tagline is "All She Wanted
Was To Make A Living. Instead She Made History".

Youre right, catering to the mindless, ignorant, xenophobic,
mysoginist, racist, frightened and reactionary clueless worked for an
election it should also work for movie sales too.

How many times does it need to be explained that Hollywood traffics in
"escapist" cinema? If people want to see bad guy Arabs, they can watch
the news 24 hours a day. People don't want to feel like they're
watching Fox News when they go to the movies. I bet you didn't even go
see The Constant Gardener and Lord of War, movies that have non-white
bad guys because you're too busy jumping on the escapist bandwagon
yourself and going to see Dukes of Hazard or Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Me, whenever possible. I love 'em. The subject here isn't women, it's
the heavy-handed PC messages coming out of Hollywood, be they
feminist, racial, homosexual, or whatever.

Because every other movie has in implausible WASP villain?

It has nothing to do with who is being catered to. As far as I know,
NO ONE likes being preached to except perhaps religious or other
maniacs who like being treated like obedient androids. Perhaps
yourself?

I decided to leave Dukes to DVD but I did see the Exorcism movie.
The other two? What could possibly recommend them as big screen fare?
Does Cage get to blow things up?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again; Anytime you want to
compare the ratio of bad guys in movies, or liberal versus
conservatism in movies, just say the word.

Well then it seems to me that you are just a tight assed conservative
who likes movies that perpetuate the wasp male domination over all.
It sure isn't PC you're railing about.
