When my daughter began showing interest in RHPS I was reacquainted with
the joys of browsing the thrift stores. We discovered four within a
short distance of home. Every time we needed a costume piece we drove
"the circuit" and had a blast.
The first year we went we found one store that had a whole upstairs room
filled with tuxedo wear... all at prices similar to what Ruth described.
By the next year however we found the selection quite diminished and
asked the owner why. He said that tux stores who used to donate pieces
they could no longer rent were now reselling them themselves on Ebay.
It's still fun to go just to see what treasures you may find.
I may just have to visit St. Vincent DePaul this weekend!
