With these HD ready tellies with the built in freeview, I was wondering
if they will be able to pick up the BBC freeveiw and other such free HD
services without the need for additional equipment?

There are no definite plans - or standards - for HD on FreeView. Nor is
there likely to be until the switch off of analogue transmissions which
may release more bandwidth.

No. The current freeview tuners, even in HD Ready TV's do not have the
technology to support HD transmissions.

Or if you buy a 50 quid card for your PC you can watch the BBC HD
broadcasts for free.

Bandwidth which no doubt will end up being used for more pointless quiz and

Luckily they don't use much bandwidth by the picture quality. Still too
much though.

No hardware decoding 50-60% CPU utilisation on my AMD 3800 X2

CoreAVC

BTW That's 50-60% utilisation of both cores. My single core P4 3GHz is not up to
the job.

Which £50 DSAT card do you recommend? - just in case I ever get a
sufficiently
powerful PC to cope with the decoding!
