Archived from groups: uk>media>home-cinema (more info?)

A friend of mine wants to know the following...

He had Sky digital installed yesterday. Only _then_ did he notice there was
a previous sattelite dish on his roof (most likely for analogue satt). He
left that dish there.
If possible, he would like to receive just the free to air stuff from the
Sky sattellite on that dish, so he was asking if he could connect a 2nd
digital box to that dish and get it.

So would that be possible? From his description, the dish does not seem to
be a proper-size 1m type jobbie (he said it's just a little bit bigger than
the Sky dish) if that makes a difference.

(By the way, he is in Ireland so UK Freeview thingy isn't an option).

-Kevin.

If it was for analogue it will be pointing the wrong way (19.2 instead
of 28.2 east)

There won't be any free to air stuff from sky on it (apart from Sky
news maybe)

The analogue Astra sats used less power so a bigger dish was required
in Ireland that would equate to an 80cm dish (probably)

The only possible use would be to try and point the old dish the same
way as the new sky digibox dish, but that is really a trial and error
thing
