| Hi all,
Is there any mods or tricks to get more gain out of a sennheiser 416T? I
love the sound of mine but my backup (Me 66) is more sensitive but doesn't
sound as good . Any suggestions?

hi,
why would you want 'more' gain on a 416T? can you give us a picture of
your usage? I have used this mic extensively for feature film
production sound as well as documentary work, etc, and have never felt
the need for more gain on the mic, or sensitivity...

I'm having to crank the fader as well as the gain pot on my SD 442 almost
fully open to get a good signal out of it. When I use my other boom I have
no problem. And I have no problems with all my lav's .

I found that the 416T had more output than my Schoeps.....I think you
may have a duff 416T. Try it on somebody else's mixer in your area and
try and compare it to another 416T.
If it is bad I might be interested in purchasing it for parts.

i have the same problem with my recently bought used 416T - did you
ever find out the solution, or was it a duff in the end? >> Stay informed about: More Gain on a 416T? |

Mike,
I guess there was nothing wrong with it other than it doesn't have a great
amount of gain compared to my lav's or my other boom . I talked to a couple
of knowledgeable people and they say it is between 6-8 db lower on output
compared to a me66 and that's what it looks like on my mixer. I hate to have
to crank the 442 wide open to get gain though

thanks for that - i thought i'd probably damaged it at some point when
i accidently gave it P48 power!
6-8db sounds about right though - have you compared the T to the
416P48 ? i don't think you have to crank the gain on that - have you
tried the T on any other mixer? (SQN, Shure etc.)
cheers
