After hearing about these things on RAMPS I bought a set (brand new off
E-Bay) to see how they work. The TX (a PTX) is frequency agile, has mic
and line inputs, both the receiver and TX are made in Taiwan. (Gentner
is in Salt Lake so the label says.) The receiver is a RX-1A.

So far just with the mic, the quality is acceptable, the range is not as
good as Comtek but I haven't sussed it all out yet. The receiver takes
a mono mini, very helpful. ;-( The TX has a mini XLR three pin, mic in,
and a 1/8 inch line in. (not sure if it's balanced, I doubt it so
probably a mono receptacle.) You can also mix the line and mic together
with a switch or have all mic or all line.

The receiver is agile but is tuned by a plastic screwdriver (supplied).
Build quality is not quite Comtek but is not as bad as some things
that come from the east. Both units use AA bats. Receiver appears to
have three transformer I.F. so that would indicate some decent engineering.

I was planning on making it a time code link to slate.
I don't have anything on the 74 mhz band I was thinking of putting a
whip on the TX, anybody roughly know how long it needs to be?

Ray

See some of you Tuesday the 20th , Napoleons Bar, Paris Hotel.

Some of Gentner's assets were sold to Comrex, some to Clear One
Communications. Neither make it anymore, though Comrex has a system w/ a
rack mounted Tx.

The PTX system has been around for many years. It was never great and
was fairly expensive. I believe that the guy who designed it started
Listen Technologies.

For a 1/4 wave ground plane its 234/F[MHz]= length[feet]. Make sure it has a
couple radials to work against. Half wave dipole 468/F.
