Starts this weekend I guess.
Clooney is the real deal ain't he ? (man meat, beef cake, producer,
director, screenwriter, choreographer, raconteur, bon vivant, ladies'
man, foppish dandy , etc.... :)
And I hear the actor who plays Edward R. Murrow is incredible, not to
mention Joe McCarthy. LOL (i.e. archival footage of himself) >> Stay informed about: Goodnight and good luck |

That would be David Stratharin. Look him up on imdb. He's ALWAYS good.

I've seen the film and it's terrific. Using McCarthy to play himself was a
stroke of genius on Clooney's part. Who would believe an actor acting
like McCarthy did in real life?

I just saw it yesterday. *Excellent* film. As others have mentioned,
David Strathairn is always worth watching. Also kudos to George Clooney
and Grant Heslov for the script, and to Clooney for his direction. In
these days when, I've heard, some people won't go to a B&W movie, it was
a brave move to do it in B&W so they could integrate actual film footage
from the time instead of having to recreate McCarthy's hearings.
The only thing I found disappointing was the side story about Joe and
Shirley. Maybe it was supposed to be comic relief, but IMO, it didn't
add anything to the movie.

Actually I thought the side story illustrated the culture of fear
prevalent during the era in another manner - and was a good illustration
of 50s repression as well.
I was riveted throughout the film and plan on seeing it again ASAP.
