My sister gave me a copy of Peter Bogdanovich's new book for Christmas and I
have been happily sampling it since.
As he states plainly, Chaplin was "for all intents and purposes deported."
But on to something else. Bogdanovich writes of a relationship between CC
and Jerry Lewis that started earlier--1951--and was closer than I'd realised.
Lewis described CC as "very laid-back" and said, "In life, Charlie didn't give
you much."
