Yeah!

You can tape films before they are made and see if you wanna go see them
when they are!

"The Office" is the one probably most in the news at present.

Nope ! I mean rounders !!!

(I think it's kinda like softball??? BUt it isn;t a *national leagued*
sport. Just something kids play in a park by themselves!)

There was!

Paul McGann as the Doctor???

You're thinking of Hammer Productions, I suspect. I recently picked
up two Hammers at Wallyworld for a buck each: The Terror (with a very young
Jack Nicholson) and The Satanic Rites of Count Dracula, with Cushing and
Christopher Lee. If memory serves, this was the next-to-last Hammer Dracula
film, and Lee's last - he was fed up with the franchise, and horror/vamp
fans seem to agree Hammer was at the end of the slope quality-wise at this
point. I like the movie, myself - it's got a distinct "Avengers" feel to it
and it's not your usual Dracula flick. Cushing is just amazing, as always.
Lee doesn't have a lot to do, but he pulls it off ok. Cushing plays Van
Helsing (sort of an "I'm my own granpa" thing, hehehe) and just pulls you
into this alternate reality where you can sit around having tea and
chatting, in all seriousness, about how to whack a vampire. Hard-core
horror/vampire fans probably won't like it, but it's a treat for folks who
take their horror in minimal doses. And it just _oozes_ "The 70's!"

The background of Hammer Films is pretty interesting stuff, too.
Apparently the guy who ran the show would, as one movie's production wound
down, shanghai actors into making another quick flick, recycling the sets
before they were torn down, etc. Ya know..."Oh, Jack? A word? Busy? Just a
few lines, won't take a minute. Stand over there..." Really sounded like
great fun, and apparently a lot of people would squeeze this stuff in,
taking scale wages.

I want the British version of the "Terminator"...."I say, old bean,
I shall return." Hehehe. *whack* "One lump or two?" Heeeeehehehehe. I slay
me. :)

I think the best non-converted import (that was actually broadcast) was The
Avengers. Man, that was a good show. That, Monty Python (didja know Cleese
was in an Avengers?), Mr. Bean.....sigh. And we'll never forget Benny
Hill....

2001-2003. Won best comedy series and actor @ last year's Golden Globes.

I've only seen bits and pieces of it. Very well done.

Ah, they were on every evening for a long time on The Mystery
Channel. A&E has the US rights and might air them again (probably waiting
for DVD sales to slack off....I would! ;) )

The "Egg Man" in a so-so episode about retired vaudevillians
scheming (and murdering) to save old London theatres. The eggs were a
bizarre clown registry; each clown's face-paint is unique and registered
and....painted onto an egg. To find the identity of the evil clowns, they of
course have to go to Cleese, caretaker of this enormous, fragile collection,
and hilarity ensues.

But *we* have.

Benny Hill is looked upon as a kind of embarrassment these days.

Ronnie Barker *retired* many years ago. BUt came back to do a one off
special (which wasn;t well received) and just a week or two ago there was a
*New* Two Ropnnies episode which was just old clips but newly recorded
seques with Mr Barker taking part !

All of the Goodies are still worklng in British TV BIll Oddie has become a
prolific *Wildlife* guy.
BUT... The Goodies are either currently or just finished touring Australia
!!!
