I'm using now an old Audio developments AD 066 headphone distribution
box for my playback setup, and i wonder if there are any alternatives
on this planet.

Size matters, power can be on current, and a balanced in would be
great. ( Basically a new AD 066, or something better ) 1 in, 3 or 4
out would be great.

thanxs,

R

I use the Rolls HA43 headphone amp. 12VDC, 1/4" ins and outs, lots of
volume, line level, 4 outputs. Unbalanced, but very small and very
cost-effective. Paid $25 CDN on E-Bay.

Rane makes a 6 headphone one rack-space headphone amp with two 1/4 ins. DOn't
recall if they are balanced or not.

The SoundDevices HX3 is great for that.
Small, very rugged, bal and unbal input, unbal loop in/out, mono/stereo
switch, 2 AA or external DC.
Not cheap but it worths every single penny. I used the Rolls boxes
before the HX3, but they are in another -cheapy- league.

I second that, I use the Sound Devices HX3 (have two of them) and they work
well and sound wonderful.

Is this for playback off your Cantar or from video playback? What are you
using for your directors feed while shooting? Comtek? Lectro IFB,
Sennheiser, etc? The reason I'm asking is couldn't you just route the
playback feed back into your Comtek?
btw, all the best for the New Year,
