Please Help me IDENTIFY my 1st scary MOVIE

This is a movie I saw in the mid 1960s. I watched it only once (when I was a
little boy) It may have been one of those made for TV movies (I hope not)
but it still stands out to me as the most scared I've EVER been by a scene
in a movie. I begged my aunts to let me stay up to watch it. I was about 4
or five. I believe it to be the first time a movie really scared me. I MUST
FIND IT. My movie watching life won't be complete until I do. The only scene
I remember is this:

A young beautiful woman in a white nurse suit is walking home from work very
late at night. Alone. It's very dark, poorly lit streets. The only sounds
you hear are the crickets creaking and her footsteps (in heels).
they do all kinds of camera play... showing her isolation... Vulnerability..

Zoom in on her eyes just as there's an obvious noise in the distance behind
her..like a garbage can turning over.
She stops short and turns looking back at the isolated sidewalk behind her
for the longest time.
off in the distance you can just barely make out a shape that could be a
person standing still in the shadows (I think she may have actually called
out "is anyone there??" or something like that)..no answer.. No movement.
As I remember it there was a very slight barely noticeable sound as she
turned to walk away. She stops again.. listening (the camera goes tight on
her face)
When she looks back at that shadow area - it looks different.
She starts walking again. This time faster....listening...after a while you
start to hear another set of footsteps at first barely noticeable but they
get more and more obvious. She stops and the other footsteps stop. She
looks back.. Nothing.
She starts walking again and you immediately start to hear the other
footsteps... she walks faster and faster. You can hear the footsteps getting
closer...Finally when its obvious someone's behind her she breaks into a run
...you can hear the footsteps chasing her... There's a camera angle over her
right shoulder as she's running... You can make out a figure coming fast.

She gets to her house...runs up stairs to the door.. She's fumbling with
the keys (for way longer than it would have took for the figure to catch
her) finally she burst into the house and slams the door just as this
Snarling Wolfman looking monster is getting to her.(I don't think it was a
Wolfman movie, but I remember teeth and hair with a full set of clothes on )
I remember her going around locking doors and windows but... it ends up
getting in and killing her (I think through the kitchen)

Can Anyone help me find the name of my First scary movie?
