At first, I had no idea Hostel was based on true events until I saw
the trailer. I watched Hostel: Part II which is not based on true
events, but I have yet to watch Hostel. I'll be renting that tonight.
The entire month of October gets me interested in watching horror
flicks.

I didn't much care for the first Hostel, nor Cabin Fever, but Hostel 2
has its moments as dark comedy. At times it is funny. Roth hits his
targets with more accuracy than Tarantino or Rodriguez did with
Grindhouse (or Rob Zombie with Halloween) so it gets a mild
recommendation from me. Any movie that has Ruggero Deodato playing a
cannibal can't be all bad.

I've never seen Fargo. TCM IS, not I believe, based on true events,
and so is Hostel. The producers didn't just decide to lie about
stating that the movies are based on true events. Facts are facts.
What school did you go to? Did you educate yourself in America, Juan?

Lili

Producers lie all the time, starting with "actor x was always our
first choice for the part" especially if actor x is not named George
Clooney or Brad Pitt.

Based On True Events is one of the biggest lies. Hostel's true events?
Well, there is a place called Eastern Europe....

By the way, have your parents told you about Santa Claus or The Easter
Bunny?

Now, John, more Ariel and less Caliban.

On an entirely different subject, I notice my spellchecker always
suggests "darkness" when it baulks at "Harkness".

Um. Hostel is based on true events. Watch the official trailer on
YouTube and listen to the words:

No, I haven't watched Hostel, or Hostel Part 3. I have no clue why
you're making such assumptions? Why would I need to lie about such a
little thing?

You'd have to be on drugs to think Fargo was based on a true story.

I suppose you believe that "Fargo" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" were
based on true events as well...

And _Fargo_ fooled Rush Limbaugh with it's "based upon a true story"
fiction.

That's not a spellchecker... that's a mood ring...

Hmmm. I agree that Rush Limbaugh sucks major ass from beneath
contempt, but... FARGO does commence with the announcement that it's
based on a true story. Why *shouldn't* I have assumed that were so,
albeit with typically extreme liberties taken?...
