Charles, I"ve had the same experience. 200's Velcroed together in a
bag will melt the glue leaving a sticky mess on the receivers that
takes a couple of bottles of Goo Gone to clean up. I used to stack my
200's on my cart with Velcro, and with full ventilation on 4 sides they
got rather toasty after 10 or 12 hours. I'm still using 200's but now
line them up side by side on the cart for full ventilation except on
the bottom. I appreciate Larry's comment that 200's don't fail because
of heat -- but, I might add, they've filled a few graveyards with
batteries. Kudos to Lectrosonics, I've used 200's since 1999 and they
still sound great, a real workhorse. Newer rf's are a few db quieter,
but with news and reality and electronic field production, background
noise almost always masks any mic/xmitter/recvr noise. I was on a
shoot recently where I complained about HMI ballast noise, and I got
excellent cooperation from the electrics. When the HD camera rolled,
it was louder than the ballasts!
So it goes.
