I was in Richer Sounds this weekend and one of the sales guys was
claiming that the LG MZ42PZ45 42" Plasma was one of the best
new plasmas around and was getting lots of rave reviews and was
better than the Panasonic 6 series. I couldn't do a side-by-side
comparison and it was difficult to make a decent judgement because
as so often happens the only stuff they were showing was cartoon
movies (Finding Nemo in this case) which always make screens
look good.
My Dad is about to buy a 6 series Panasonic and I told him I'd do
a bit of research, most of my research being to make this post and
ask you learned folks if any of you have any info or opinions!
I did also go to the LG web site and was surprised to find no mention
whatsoever of any MZ models on their UK web site; the closest I
got to finding any mention of an MZ42PZ45 was on the German web
site, and I found a few mentions on the web of a MZ42PZ44 (which
didn't seem to be anything special).
Was the Richer Sounds guy just spinning a line or is the MZ42PZ45
a significantly improved model that is worthy of consideration? (My
Dad wants to keep the costs relatively low so he's not interested in
stepping up a price bracket, it's not even going to be used for DVDs
but will be exclusively fed from a Sky+ box).
I'd be grateful for any info and comments. Thanks.
