Post subject: Intertitle gaps.
Archived from groups: alt>movies>chaplin (more info?)

Last week I pointed out that I had noticed through my experience in
reconstructing Charlie's films that gaps in the action occurred at the
points of the film where intertitles were inserted.

I used this as one of the reasons I did not believe the DVD intertitles
for "In The Park" are original.

This view was called "idiotic."

More recently, I began working on restoring the intertitles to "The
Cure" and - guess what? There are clearly gaps in the action where the
intertitles occur (or once occurred, if David Shepard did not see fit
to include them in his "restoration").

Indeed, the only place there IS a frame-to-frame match of the action is
where the intertitles have been inserted in the wrong place (there's a
couple of instances of that, too).

OK, Doug, I gotta know...which intertitles are missing from the standard
version, which have been inserted in the wrong place, and which shouldn't be
there at all (if any)?
