so, has anyone purchased the DVD yet? Has the second GOLD DIGGERS clip
been added and all the extras correctly labeled?

I really want to support Warners on this and purchase a copy, but I
also want the whole shebang.

Thanks!

You could always rent it all from Netflix, before deciding if you want
to buy it for yourself.

That way, you'll know what you're getting.

I saw both numbers, the finale and "Tulips," at a Vitaphone Project
program at NYC's Film Forum years ago.

I'm flummoxed by what's on the DVD. On the menu, the clips are listed
as "Tulips" and the finale, with a note that "Tulips" cuts out before
the ending of the number. You play the clips, and it's the finale--
which does cut out before it's over, while I don't remember that
happening with "Tulips"--and some ballet number I've never seen
before. No "Tulips."

Where the hell is the ballet from? Has another clip from GOLDDIGGERS
OF BROADWAY been found, or is this from another film entirely?

I believe that's the ballet from THE ROGUE SONG. Looks like the same
problem that was discussed a week or so on this very NG.

I'm awaiting my delivery from Amazon & will let you know if mine has
"Tulips"...........I Understand that they let the discs with the error go
out to avoid delays, but do you think they'll offer some kind of exchange
for the right ones?

Far more than the "Tulips" glitch, I think some sort of exchange remedy is
needed for the badly botched synchronization in one reel of "The Jazz
Singer," (Jolson at the train depot, hopping a car to go home to see his
mother, and footage leading up to his vocal at the piano.)

As noted earlier in this group, the mis-matched sound all but ruins the mood
of the two adjoining scenes, and all but obliterates a minor but clever bit
of scoring where the comments of the catty woman at the train station ("I
always knew you'd go far") were underscored with suitably stinging notes.

I'd sooner have the problematic "Jazz Singer" set than none at all, but it
seems as though WB really let two blatant errors slip past (doesn't anyone
bother to scan pre-production materials for quality control errors?) ---
highly unusual for their usual top-notch standard.

I know this probably isn't the case, but sometimes companies will leave in a
little glitch or a flaw as a "Copyright Trap" to ID pirated issues.
(Dictionary publishers will sometimes insert a fictional word, or an obscure
definition) I think this might be why a few frames of italian title card pop
up in Kino's version of "The Man Who Laughs"
